I am currently employed by the Duke University Marine Laboratory in the Division of Marine Science and Conservation at the Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences. My appointment includes research, student mentoring and teaching. My work now involves exploring the Pacific and Atlantic, and studying marine mammals in efforts to conserve them.

The title of this website is borrowed from J.C. Beaglehole's historical account of European voyages in the Pacific Ocean in search of Terra Australis Incognita - from Magellan to Cook. My Ph.D. advisor, Andy Read, gave me this book after I graduated and moved to Hawaii. The picture in the header is a rough-toothed dolphin (Steno bredanensis) photographed by J. Baker in the waters of Tutuila, American Samoa. The site itself is powered by WordPress and a modified Fjords Theme.
